Welcome to the Live Oak Forum,
“The Forum” was borne out of a great concern that we, as individuals, as a community and as a country, have lost our way. That we have become too vain and dishonest to face our problems, which has always been the key to our country’s greatness. We have become too soft. America appears to be stuck spinning its wheels going nowhere.
Our communities and our nation needs to take a quantum leap forward to survive, to thrive, but how does one achieve it? I believe it begins on a personal level. America and Americans are suffering from a spiritual crisis from the inability of our federal government in Washington to work together all the way down to the breakdown of the family unit.
Centuries-old southern live oaks, Quercus virginiana, evoke maturity, strength and wisdom having survived man, machine and storms. While man has come and gone they have remained. They have often served as a shady spot where a judge once held court. In Daphne, AL, General Andrew Jackson sat up in a live oak to talk with his troops before heading down “Jackson Trail” to fight the British in Pensacola, FL, in 1812.
The goal of The Live Oak Forum is to draw on the experience, insight and wisdom of those who have come before us and apply the lessons learned to our own life, to our own challenges. Sit back, relax and listen to our speakers as they share their stories.
The Live Oak Forum™ is a cultural, educational and entertainment experience. The Live Oak Forum’s motto is growth through experience℠. The Forum strives to create an environment for learning and growing through hearing the personal experiences of our speakers tempered with a dose of one’s own self-reflection.
